The processing of personal data collected through cookies is additionally based on Article 6(1)(a) GDPR (consent) or, for strictly necessary cookies only, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest), read together with the Data Protection Act 2018.

In line with the DPC’s Guidance Note on Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies (April 2020), analytics cookies on this website are only used with your consent — we do not rely on legitimate interest for analytics.

4. Affiliate links and third-party cookies

The website ie.shopilo.com is a price comparison and voucher-code portal. When you click an affiliate link, you are redirected to the retailer’s website. The retailer and the affiliate network (e.g. AWIN, Rakuten, CJ Affiliate) may set their own cookies on their own domains — those cookies are not controlled by ie.shopilo.com. Please read the privacy policy of the relevant retailer for details of the cookies it uses.

The website itself sets no affiliate tracking cookies on its own pages. The cookies described above (section 2) are exhaustive.

5. Google Analytics

The website ie.shopilo.com uses Google Analytics 4, a web analytics service of Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA), provided within the EU by Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland).

What is collected?

• Pages visited and time spent on them
• Session duration and number of page views
• Traffic source (referrer, search term, campaign)
• Browser type, operating system and device category
• Anonymised IP address (IP anonymisation is enabled)

Data transfers to the USA

Google processes data on servers in the USA. The transfer takes place on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision of the European Commission of 10 July 2023). Google LLC is certified under the EU-US DPF.

Legal basis

Article 6(1)(a) GDPR in conjunction with Regulation 5(3) of S.I. No. 336 of 2011 — your consent. Google Analytics is only activated after you accept “Analytics” in the cookie banner.

Objection and opt-out

You can object to collection by Google Analytics by:

• withdrawing your consent in the cookie banner (section 7), or
• installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.

6. Meta Pixel

The website ie.shopilo.com uses the Meta Pixel (formerly: Facebook Pixel), an analytics and advertising tool of Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. (4 Grand Canal Square, Grand Canal Harbour, Dublin 2, Ireland), a subsidiary of Meta Platforms Inc. (1 Hacker Way, Menlo Park, CA 94025, USA).

What is collected?

• User behaviour on ie.shopilo.com (pages viewed, clicks)
• Conversion events (e.g. visits to retailer pages after clicking an affiliate link)
• Audience signals used to serve advertising on Meta platforms (Facebook, Instagram)

Data transfers to the USA

Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. may transfer data to Meta Platforms Inc. in the USA. The transfer takes place on the basis of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (adequacy decision of the European Commission of 10 July 2023). Meta Platforms Inc. is certified under the EU-US DPF.

• withdrawing your consent in the cookie banner (section 7), or
• objecting to personalised advertising in your Facebook ad settings.

7. Consent management

On your first visit to ie.shopilo.com you are shown a cookie banner through which you can give or refuse consent for analytics and marketing cookies. Strictly necessary cookies are set regardless of your choice (Regulation 5(5) of S.I. No. 336 of 2011).

In line with the DPC’s Guidance Note on Cookies and Other Tracking Technologies (April 2020), our banner is designed so that:

• No boxes are pre-ticked: non-essential cookies are off by default, and consent requires a clear affirmative action by you.
• Refusing is as easy as accepting: the option to reject non-essential cookies is available on the first layer of the banner, with the same prominence as the option to accept.
• Browsing is not consent: simply continuing to navigate or scrolling through the website is never treated as consent.
• No cookie wall: access to the content of the website is not made conditional on your accepting non-essential cookies.

Your consent decision is recorded by our consent management tool CookieScript (Cookie-Script.com) and stored in the CookieScriptConsent cookie on your device. This allows us to respect your decision on every subsequent page view without asking you again.

Withdrawing or changing your consent

You can withdraw or change your consent at any time with effect for the future, without suffering any detriment as a result. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal. You can proceed as follows:

Note: if you delete your cookies, your stored consent status is also deleted. The cookie banner will be shown again on your next visit.

8. How long your consent remains valid

Your consent is valid for 6 months (182 days) from the date on which it is given, in line with the DPC’s guidance that consent should not be relied on for longer than six months. After this period expires, you will be asked for your consent again.

You can withdraw your consent at any time before the 6 months expire (see section 7). Withdrawing consent is just as easy as giving it — via the “Cookie settings” link in the footer.
